This is being written while my pricing is 40/58/75, but with a full schedule and still having requests for [[Lessons]].
[[Wait lists show excess demand]], and [[Raising prices lowers demand]]. In such a situation, raising prices seems to be the most logical solution to balance [[Supply and demand]]. Of course, accommodations for those in need are necessary. [[Scholarships should primarily be need-based]], but since [[Means-testing increases overhead]], I prefer to keep this on the [[Honor code]] for current students.
I've tended to try keeping prices at $5 increments, but I'm considering doing away with that for the next iteration. [[Round numbers feel imprecise]], and having the "in-betweens" allows for a more gradual increase as needed. It also makes electronic payments more likely ([[Leave a paper trail]]). On the other hand, [[Round numbers are convenient]], and many prefer convenience (even to the point of overpaying, which I would rather avoid if possible).
Per-student vs. per-minute, I've used a calculation like "(30min*$1)+5" in recent years, but I want a better, more logical process behind it. The "per-minute" portion will follow the rules of [[Supply and demand]] listed above, but the other is trickier. With that, I could add 8min to my calculation to help account for the administrative side.
## Time considerations
- Lesson time (primarily 30/45/60, +/- 5min)
- Sending notes (could be as much as 2min)
- Initial contact (Baking in 1min per lesson to account should be more than enough)
- Other emails/scheduling (Average 1min per lesson?)
